“Petr Konchalovsky. To the evolution of the Russian Avantgarde” is the joint project of the Tretyakov gallery, the Russian museum and “Petr Konchalovsky's Foundation”. From 27 March - June 2010 visitors of the Russian Museum have the opportunity to see about 90 best canvases of one of the most prolific Russian painters of the 20th century. The accent in the exhibition is made on 1910s when Konchalovsky, the founder of Russian avant-garde group “Jack of Diamonds”, was heavily inspired by the works of Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin. Pictures from the family collection, documents and personal belongings of the artist will be also displayed. This is meant to create the atmosphere of the first half of the 20th century in which Konchalovsky and other Russian artists worked.
