St. Petersburg celebrates its 307th birthday on May 27 |

This week St. Petersburg celebrates its 307th birthday. The birthday will be marked by fireworks over the Neva in the evening on May 27, but the main celebrations will be held on weekend. On May 29 at 11:00 the annual city carnival will open the chain of festive events. Nevsky Prospect will become a pedestrian area as dancers, street bands, theatre groups and citizens parade from Ploschad Vostanya to Palace square. The partying and dancing will go on in the evening and on May 30 with street concerts on the Spit of Vasilievsky Island, Nevsky Prospect and major squares of the city.
