City’s oldest park, the Summer Garden, was closed for restoration this summer and will be open again in 2011. The famous 18-century marble sculptures are not going back to their pedestals. They will be replaced with copies, while the originals will be displayed in Michael’s Castle, which windows overlook the Summer Garden. For centuries the sculptures had been badly affected by rain, wind, pollution and vandals. The decision to replace them with copies was made back in 1980s, but it was finally approved by the local authorities only in summer 2009.
